Switzerland: The BAG risk country list was again updated on 03 August, with validity from 04 August. And the compelling news is that the United Kingdom, India and Nepal have now been removed from the list – and with them an assortment of overseas territories, including in the Caribbean.

This means that currently a visit from Switzerland to any country no longer entails a quarantine upon return to Switzerland. The list of states and territories with a variant of concern still exists, but currently there are no countries registered on it.

Anyone who can prove they have been fully vaccinated can now once again enter Switzerland from all countries outside of the Schengen area. Only those arriving by plane are still required to take a test, but this requirement does not apply to persons who have been fully vaccinated or recovered from COVID-19.

On the other hand, the situation is less clear in the opposite direction.

UK operates a traffic light system which is updated every three weeks. Currently Switzerland is classified as an Amber listed country and from 02 August, travellers who have been double vaccinated under Switzerland’s or the EU’s vaccination programs, will be able to travel to England from amber list countries without having to quarantine on arrival or take a day eight test. See the government advisory for details and updates.
